Club 33

Last night myself, my lover boy, and a whole gaggle of friends got to go to Club 33 for Jenn's birthday! Did not get back home until 1 in the morning. I must say, the experience was amazing, especially with the company we shared it with. I haven't laughed that hard in a while... nor have I had drinks that strong. The food was delish, and our waitress was amazing. The decor was phenomenal and my heart fluttered when I saw what looked like concept art for Mary Poppins. If anyone ever gets the chance to go, drop everything you are doing and do so! :)

The Day Has Come

Or the night... whatever you want to call it. I completed "Portrait of a Pet Lover (a.k.a. William's Last Day)". This is the darkest I have come with watercolor. I just love all the characters. Especially the bat who hung himself. He just couldn't take the love.

And one more thing before I go. Poster for the upcoming Skipper Stand Up Show in Fullerton, CA. A comedy show comprised of past and current Disney Jungle Skippers. And my fiance is in the line up too. Not your average comedy show folks. For more information

About to pop!

Poster design for the HORRORPOPS - If you haven't heard them yet, you should now! Inspired by their song "Walk like a Zombie." Changed the colors a bit to give it that old dirty feel. :-D

Welcome Hazel Marie Shanklin with her lovely baby bump! The third "Happy Housewife" makes her debut!

The third

I'm painting the third housewife. Welcome Mrs. Hazel Marie Shanklin! I cannot wait until she is finished!

This weekend has been so much fun and intense. I just finished all the entry paperwork for the Burn the Witch gallery show next month. I have two more pieces to finish before Friday before I drop the work off too. That is not including school projects. :) And I need to buy frames for the frame-less.

Tangent: don't get sick.

Pictures, shows and rememberances

Today, my fiance and I are going to have our engagement pictures taken at Disneyland by Katherine Gehl later this evening!

Another awesome thing, Josh Agle (aka SHAG) just walked into the office. Apparently, he is having a gallery show this week at CSULB! I'm so psyched right now! The opening reception is on September 13, this Sunday, 5pm - 7pm at the Gatov Gallery. The gallery is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 12pm - 5pm and there will be an open house on Wednesday from 12p - 7pm! If you would like information for parking and what not, visit

Today, also is the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. A sad day, but a proud day for all those who stepped up and helped those suffering. My uncle was one of many who helped out, and I've never been more proud. If we all come together, we can do great things.

Oi! What a day of emotions! Stay positive and smile! It helps so much. You never know who may need it.

... comes from drawing cute demented creatures.

And listening to 80s music.

Attempting some retroness for invitations. Yes, he has one arm missing... because I don't know what I want him to do with it yet.

A long time coming

I've been meaning to post these pictures for quite some time and now I have! :-D

My first Comic Con experience happened this year thanks to one of my best friends.

Preview night I met a few people I didn't even think I would get the chance to meet. Including Doug Sneyd, an amazing illustrator who took the time to answer questions I had about his technique and style. Bought his "Unpublished book" which he signed and gave me a personalized sketch of myself by him! :) Even mentioned on his blog!

Then I went around and saw a familiar illustration at this booth and began to talk to Pascal Campion. I didn't realize it was the same artist who I really love to watch and study his art online on his blog until halfway through our conversation. A very kind soul full of abundant knowledge. I truly respect this man and his talent.

Michael Daley was there and was a sweetie. Another amazing illustrator who really just was the nicest thing ever.

I somehow managed to find Derek Yaniger, an amazing retro illustrator who is bringing the circle out of squaresville. :-D Totally bought alot from him too. Little does he know how happy his art makes me and inspires my wedding. Thanks man!

Of course I saw my share of costumes. But I never thought I'd see the three good fairies.

Nor did I anticipate to see a really swanky Cheshire cat and Alice while waiting in line.

And then I saw Tobias, from "Arrested Development", but he didn't notice me. He was too busy looking for his Blue Man Group.

And after days of lack of slumber and splugging of cash, I came home will all my swag and art books, prints and gifts. Here they sit, taking up an entire queen size bed. I really did go overboard, however, besides the five prints I bought from various artists, all the art books are now expanding my collection of illustrative resources for reference. I'm a huge book addict. Especially, sketchbooks, art books, and then come the novels.

In the end, I made it out alive... but barely! Talk about summer fun!
