Curiouser and curiouser

"Eat Me, Drink Me" digital illustration by SeyStudios.Net
She started out as a gift, which stumbled upon a contest. My take on Alice in her Wonderland. :) Went with a more vintage feel with this one. Inspired by the color palette of a vintage valentine.

Halloween and the Shoppe

First day of Halloween costume dress up. At work and in dark fairy garb with classic striped socks to match. Tomorrow's costume is the Gatekeeper (my husband the Keymaster), and Sunday I will be a roller girl chick... possible zombie-like. Possibly.

Definitely needed this festive kick in the pants. This is my favorite season, by far.

I made some changes on how I work with special requests and my shop, so see the next section below for information. It is easier and less confusing, I think.

Finishing up the roller derby logo and my friend's wedding invitation tonight. It has been one heck of a long week just taking care of mundane regular life. But back to art tonight! After I finish that, I am going to be working on items that will be available at SnowFest in Simi Valley next Sunday.

Hope you all are doing well! Have a ghoulish day!

It's ready for purchase! Buy your own copy of Maria's Family today - [link]!!!

Read Maria's Family on, a digital library of children's books!

Commissions, Requests and all that is For Sale

1) Do you sell your work?

Sure do! Check my Etsy shop ([link]) to see what's available.

2) Can I buy something without being a member of Etsy?

You'll need to sign up w/ Etsy (it's super easy) to buy anything directly from my shop. If you'd rather not do that, contact me and we can discuss a private sale. At this time, I only accept payment through PayPal.

3) Do you take commissions?

Yes. Let's talk. Send me a request via Etsy here - [link] and I can give you a quote and start the process.

Remember, it doesn't hurt to ask. Requesting an item does not mean you are locked into a sale or purchase. Also requests are commissions and are not free. This is a job and as much as I love giving away things, I need to eat too.

4) Do you do art trades?

Not usually.

5) How come you didn't respond to the comment I left?

I do my best to try to respond, but the computer often hurts my eyes and what time I can limit to the screen has to do with creating. But I do read and appreciate everything, I promise.

I miss you all! Sorry I haven't updated in a while. My ear is doing better. Not completely healed, but I'm able to create art again! <3 Working on our next book, revising the South County Rollergirls derby logo, a birthday princess and a handful of other things that also include officially organizing my studio! I know I keep working on it, and I never finish it. Of course, it gets messy again because I pile too much on my plate (and my desk). I also got the chance to update and polish up my website for your viewing pleasure.

Now, I must eat dinner... so late, I know. I was sucked into updating and polishing I forgot to eat. At least I'll be able to sleep with ease now that I've updated. Love you all!

Maria's Family - A Romanian Fairytale

Hello all,

It has been a long time coming but I finished the revisions and reformatting and now my originally written and illustrated children's book is ready for purchase!

"Maria's Family" can be bought at my lulu book shop!

Also, a digital version of the book can be read on If you go here, under "READ ME" there is a button that says "LIKE" and please click it if you are a facebook user. It is apart of a separate contest. This requires no sign up. To read the book on this site though, you do need to create an account.

Many thanks to everyone for all the support and prayers! <3 Kevin and I are working on a few more books, in which he is writing and I am illustrating, so I'll let you know when that happens! Until then, keep dreaming!

Thank you all for the recent favorites and watches! They are much appreciated! Especially on the roller derby logo. Going to revise that when I have a moment to do so. There are few new ideas that the team wants to incorporate that I am anxious to include! <3

Working on my piece for the upcoming "Dinosaur Show". I am really excited for it because it is such an odd size.

Breaking news, "Maria's Family" just was announced as one of the top 3 kids e-books on today! <3 I'm so excited! Please if you can, when you click the link, under the "Read Me" button there is a place where you can like it on Facebook... click it. It doesn't cost. I am trying to get the most likes for the contest. I would greatly appreciate it!

Must get back to art. Love you all! <3

Pin-ups, postcards and picture books

Whoa, it's been way too long for a blog post!

As usually, I've been keeping myself incredibly busy. Finally finished the Cast Member Pin-Ups for The Pin-Up Magazine Fall 2010 issue! So excited for the whole series. I have been having a blast creating them. Thanks to my lover boy, I wouldn't be were I am with them if it was not for his mad reference picture finding skills! Especially the retro ones. Oh! My heart just flutters every time I see photos from the past.

I received my new business cards in the mail this week. Aren't they lovely?

I just love how they came out. The printers did a really great job. :)

Been working on my children's book again. It is spiffing up quite nicely. I know I promised it was going to be out soon, and it will. I'm looking into printing with Just tweaking a few things first. Because I formatted it in an odd size, I have to reformat it to one of the typical ones if i use lulu. And that takes some time. We'll see how it goes. Otherwise, I am going to need to hand bind them and just sell them in my etsy store. I'm playing with both ideas.

For now, I need to get back to organizing and cleaning my studio.

Cast Member Pin-Ups and Comic Con

Finished Cast Member Pin-Up Skipper Em revision. I love the way she looks now. Going to revise the tour guide and work on at least one more for the fall issue of The Pin-Up Magazine.

Rumors have it that someone else is going around doing a similar series. I have yet to see it, but do not be fooled. The ones I created are the original series. Though... I am curious to see this other artist. Having an idea for an art exhibit maybe. :-p

Comic-Con was amazing. Met and picked the brains of amazing people including, but not limited to, Josh Cooley, Derek, Bob Hurt (the creator of hoops & yoyo), Laurie B, Chris Sanders, Jeff Pidgeon, and even Floyd Norman. I spent most of my time on the exhibit floor walking around with fellow illustrator Jacqueline Monroe just taking the art and stopping to pick the minds of those around us. We did go to Pixar story artist Ronnie del Carmen's panel to here his lecture on how to be inspired and the steps he and other story artists at Pixar take to spawn new ideas. That was liberating. The whole weekend was just refreshing and really pumped the spirits for new endeavors.

I cannot thank those who took time out of their day to talk to us and look at my portfolio. I was particularly taken aback by running into Derek, one of the coolest tiki retro artists out there. He had an amazing booth last year, but this year I didn't see him on the list. And on Saturday we ran into him while just walking around. He partnered up with another booth and artist friend who I am trying to find his business card so I can show you his art.

Jacquie and I snagged an application for a booth. Won't be for a handful of years though... due to the waiting list, but now is as good of time as any.

Something I drew at lunch during the weekend...

It is because of photo moments like this that makes me want to go back.

More photos to come.

SDCC 2010

The event has already begun, but my bum won't be over there until tomorrow. Driving down tonight with my husband and Jacquie. I have composed a list this year to ensure I do not go overboard like last year. :) What kind of list? Two, one of lectures and panels that I might be interested in and the other of the various booths I must stop by to meet and/or obtain artistic references from some of my favorite artists. Very excited with this years selection of people who have been nice enough to truck it down here. I am very grateful.

See you all at Comic Con! <3

Same blog, new location

Welcome to my relocated blog. I wanted to keep the original name, but change my email address... but blogger is weird in that way so hence the new change. Which is fine. I needed a little. :)

In the news, I am working on some pin up and burlesque illustrations, mostly for fun. Was inspired by the Fempire Strikes Back burlesque show put on by Devil's Playground I got to go to recently. High class, theatrical and parodic burlesque show. I really want to go see more like it, however to find the same quailty of show is quite difficult. There seems to be a few burlesque groups around, but none like Devil's Playground. These dancers really are true artists, whereas the others are hardly creative and think that throwing on lingiere and dancing on a stage with feathers makes you burlesque. It doesn't. Anyway, that is my rant. Until then, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for another group around. Either way, I am completely inspired because of Fempire. :) Especially with what they did with the second show, which I got to see, which comparing this one to the first, was 10x better.

Hooked up my scanner so I can start showing you all artwork again. I know! I am happy too!

Got a few... well more than a few events planned for the future. Working on planning more. I just don't know when to stop, do I?

Stay cool,

Still no scanner...

But I do have my handy dandy crappy camera phone... that works quite well. :)

I miss drawing. :) Miss Jacquie had to bail for our art meet because of work conflicts, of course lol, and then sent me some awesome pictures of what she is working on today. Trust me, what will come next from her is amazing! Totally inspired. I'm pulled in so many which ways when it comes to inspiration right now. Ah! Which way to go!

Monday, July 12, 2010

I just realized something.

Sitting here sketching my heart out getting ready to post stuff on here when it occurs to me...

My scanner is still at my old studio and I won't have it back until this weekend.

So sorry... no post as planned. Though I do have stuff to show! <3

Sey's Shoppe

While starting a new job and moving into a new apartment, I've also been creating the long overdue online art store.

It's in the making, but the basics are up. I should have prints and whatnots up in a few weeks. I am hoping just before Comic Con. But we'll see. I just am afraid once I get back from Con, I will only want to dive into all the sketchbooks and drink up all the wonderful art and inspiration. Though I intend fully not to be sucked into a black hole of procrastination. :)

One of my best friends and fellow artists, Jacqueline Monroe, is coming over this weekend so we can finally have an art night of sketching and collaboration. I promise at least sketches and pictures will be updated here from that. :) For sure. I've been busy with life's little daily needs, but now that we are nearly unpacked and my studio is almost put back together, I am ready for my artwork again. I sure do miss drawing. I have had my notebook handy this entire time and have more ideas than ever.

On that note, the next time I'm back, I'll come bearing visual gifts. :)

the madness never stops

Started a new job, moving into our new home and moving out of the old. Dear goodness, I really do like to keep myself busy. :-p

Looking for other pin up magazines that would like to feature my work in. Or just magazines in general. Though I am a fan of rockabilly and the like. :)

Working on pieces for this years burn the witch art exhibit. This year will be the fifth year of it's existence, which makes me super excited. The show does not go up until fall, but I'm starting early this year.

Comic-con is in a few weeks. Just going for the weekend instead of the whole thing. Can't really take off the time from work. Though I am mostly going for the exhibit hall to meet and talk with artists and get a few sketchbooks. This time I am going to do my homework though and find out who is selling a sketchbook and whatnot so I do not miss out on the opportunity to snag my own copy. Last year was my first year going and actually got weaseled into buying the entire book series that spawned the True Blood tv series. Needless to say, Charlaine Harris is on of the greats and goes on my top ten list of favorite authors. On book 5, and I just started reading them last year. :)

My own book is now completely edited and ready to go. Once we finish up the last minute ends of our move into our new home and my new studio, signed hand bound copies will be up for sale on my etsy store, I apologize for the delay in production. We weren't expecting to find a new location so quickly.

Also, up for commission soon on my account we will have special orders for personalized personas! Keep an eye out! Postings will be soon!

With all that sad, much love and many blessings,

Busier than a bubble bee...

...among other things.

I completed the third paper cut of my Beauty and the Beast series. Meet "Nessie & Nelly".

They are currently on display at the Long Beach Picture This Gallery up for sale. Along with this little creature fella. "Catfish" is a tiny ceramic cat piggy bank I painted to look like a strange fish with acrylic. Since he is the shape of a cat but with the 'skin' of a fish... the name became appropriate, don't you think?

Another project I've opened up again is my Disney Cast Member Pin Up series. A few days ago I completed the third of the series (the first was the tour guide, and the second was a jungle skipper) the mansion maid.

She is by far my favorite. They will be featured in the second issue of The Pin Up Magazine next month. I am actually contemplating on creating them into flat paper cuts for fun. I have one or two more to complete, but after that, I think I just might. Why not, right?

In other news, I am gathering necessary photos, ideas and whatnots together to finally open up my Etsy store. I am thinking sometime in the next few weeks I will have it open with some fun items for sale.

Until then, I'm going to get back to work.

4 days and counting!

With the wedding just four days away I figured it is time to put up my "Out to Lunch" sign here. Pick up my dress today and then I'm heading home to prepare. Then Sunday we are off to WDW for our honeymooning. I'll be thinking happy thoughts the whole time.

P.S. My children's book is complete! Making hand crafted copies that I will be selling on my etsy store by the end of June, if not mid. Anyone interested?

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Just "Weird"

My future hubby does not care for the television show "Glee" at all, but had a brilliant idea this morning and created this fan page to hopefully get "Weird" Al on "Glee".

"Weird" Al Yankovic on Glee? Why not!

I think that would be fun. :-p Different. So fan it on Facebook. lol. I created the graphic really quick to help his fantasy. Maybe the dream will become a reality! Who knows! Never know unless you try. I personally love the show.

In other news....

I have officially graduated and have a BFA in Illustration with cum laude honors. lol W00t! My family and friends are so amazing! It was a blast at graduation! Even got the Illustration grads to get together and take a group photo! It was kinda crazy and some people are missing but it was fun. Some mini photos below. I'm the dark brunette.

And the countdown continues...

6 days until the wedding day!!!

My children's book is complete! Making hand crafted copies that I will be selling on my etsy store by the end of June, if not mid. Anyone interested?

Well I am going to get back to cleaning and crafting. Have a great weekend!

Saturday, May 22, 2010

Maria! What have you done!

Finished all the illustrations to my children's book. :) Thus, my last final project is complete! I am in the process of fixing a few things before I make the book available for purchase.

I cannot believe it is all over. Now I feel like I have nothing to do. Well, besides getting my work ready for the "Creatures" show for June, getting married, doing the pin up roller girl series, the Disney cast member pin up series, and a few other things. :-p I just like hustle and bustle I guess.

Done with classes by May 14th.

Finals end by May 21st.

Graduate on May 28th.

Get married a week later!

Honeymoon at WDW!

Yes, that's right! We've moved up the wedding! It has been a long wonderful 2+ years of being engaged and we figured, why wait?

Also finished the second Beauty and the Beast series paper cut called "The Happy Camper". Click the title to view a large more detailed image! This piece is in actuality 20" x 20" x 2".

With that! Much love!

Here's one last post of my senior show exhibition. Ignore the crappy lighting.

Thursday, April 22, 2010

In spite of the hectic whirlwind of everything, my fiance and I have decided to move up the wedding date from a large ceremony October to a small private ceremony this June. Reception to follow later this fall.

Here is the announcement I created. Our theme is a 50s/60s Shag tiki lounge theme, and Shag not having invites, so I made our own Shag inspired invitations. Changed a few things from his original concept. Here's the recreation.

So in part, for the next few months, I'm going to be pretty busy!

Fairies are ridiculous

It has been a long time posting, but here I am! I have been working my buns off. Totally over booked myself this semester, but totally worth it! Trust me! I have so much to show! But not nearly enough time to get it all uploaded now to show you.

Here is one spread of my original Romanian fairy tale that I'm writing and illustrating for one of my senior projects. I do hope you enjoy.

And tomorrow, Sunday, April 18th, 2010, the annual CSULB BFA Illustration Senior Show will be opening with reception and fun at 5pm - 7pm!!! Please come and see all the amazing work and meet the featured artists! As well as see my debut paper cut #2 - The Happy Camper!!!

Recent works

Recently, I have been working on a Beauty and the Beast paper cut series. Here is the first of them. My goal is to basically create illustrations with a Beauty character and a Beast character interacting, but create them in non-traditional appearances. Below is a really bad photo of "The Mermaid and the Narwhal" that was shown at the "Fairy Tale Art Exhibit" at CSULB this last month.

Of course, my mind needed a break from the series, so I designed this Rococo character in a few hours and colored her for fun. As much as Rococo is about the gowns, I really was more interested in the hair.

Of course, that just was not enough. I have really been wanting to illustrate a merchild. I am apart of this Children's Illustrators club on dA which does a monthly challenge each month. This month's was "Seahorse" so of course I had to dive into that game before March ends.

So now that all of my side illustration wants are out of the way, I am going to focus my work on my children's book project and the Beauty and the Beast series piece number 2 (I'll give you a hint... it involves very big feet).

dreaming in line

Above is the latest illustration I've created, inspired by my Romanian heritage of folklore and fairy tales, titled "Submission". Click on the image for a closer look.

A sketchdump piece above of a selected few sketches and doodles that drew over the last 6 months. Click on this image for a closer view.

I appologize for my lack of posts. I have been working on my senior projects, one of which I just recently received approval to show to the public. Right now I am going through and organizing the works and picking out my favorite.

Nothing much else to say at this point but I must go and draw some more. Every moment is precious.

first of the last

One of my good friend's Diana took our engagement pictures at Disneyland last Friday. Yes, in the rain, but we had great fun. She stopped by and gave me the cd of images. I can't wait to go through them with Kevin when he gets off work. What we have seen so far, they are amazing. So grateful to her offering her time and services.

Started my first day of my final semester. Blah! I love school! I can't believe it's the first day of my last! Then again, I'm ready to be done, despite the bad economy. I have quite a positive outlook and attitude. Prayers please!

For now, I have time to work on some personal projects!

If you haven't heard the recent news of Conan O'Brien, I'd be surprised.

My two cents, I'm with Conan on this one. I loved both Jay and Conan for a very long time. When Conan took over The Tonight Show as per the agreement, I felt as if it were time. It saddens me that both the studios and I'm sure Jay, would want to do this to him. I support the man for standing up for himself and not backing down. I have even more admiration for him now than ever before.

I support Conan O'Brien!

Finished all my little art projects this month, and both were mermaids. I do not know what is up with that theme, but it's there.

Currently working on a secret collaboration project that has been taking up most of my days, as well as planning the October wedding with my fiance. I cannot believe we are already less than a year away. In need of completing those invitations. Started those early this week, but nothing complete yet.

In other news, condensing is the word of the month. I am a huge pack rat. Whatever I have, I try to save because, who knows? I might be able to use it in an art project later on. Well, being that I'm getting married this year... I really need a spring cleaning. So that's what I've been doing. Two boxes of books and one large bag full of clothes are ready to give away. I'm not sure where. Tempted to go to a used book store and do a trade for the books, but I am going to have to scout out the good ones before I make a for sure trade.

Also, next month myself and two of my friends are curating a show at the university titled "All Pinned Up". I need to get my butt working on some stuff for that. Plenty of ideas. Just need to initiate them. Super-excited about the exhibit because of the theme and it opens on Valentine's Day!

Well my pretties, need to keep moving before I get sucked into the infamous black hole we call the internet.

under the sea

I've been on a mermaid kick lately. :) Here's a gift I did for Pinklace...

And here's one of Tiffany as a mermaid. :)

My Mac is up and running! She's a beauty. My parents got her for me for Christmas, and my fiance set it all up for me, making this quite an easy transition for me. The only thing I need to get working is my Cintiq tablet. I can't figure out how to sync it up correctly so the computer recognizes it permanetly and so I can calibrate the pen without having the entire system freeze and having to do a hard reboot. If anyone has any answers, that would be lovely. I sent in inquires to both Wacom and Mac, to see if they have the answer to resolve the issue yet they are out of the offices until Monday.

I have two small pieces that I'll be posting up as soon as I can get my tablet working. Might bust out the small one in the mean time.

Happy new year folks!
