Happy New Year!

It is not exactly the new year just yet, but I don't want to forget to wish you all happiness! I have a few major projects lined up that are due before the first so I'm cracking down and getting them done!

Christmas was a smash! We hosted Christmas Eve for the in-laws and then Christmas at my parents. And now we are patiently waiting for a new little cousin to arrive any moment! It sure has been a swirl of energy over here!

Now, where is my mechanical pencil. I bought like 5 and now I'm down to none apparently (but plenty of refills on lead and erasers... *le sigh*)

Lively Little Things

The show was a complete success! It is still up for display at The Foundry in Bakersfield, CA. All those who are near, should stop by and see it! Pre-sale signed prints of artwork of the show will be for sale at the gallery until the end of the month and all parties interested should contact the gallery for more information. Also, originals are up for grabs as well! Here are a few sneak peek images for you to see. There were a total of 32 pieces in the show, 28 of which hung on the walls!

Moving... well moved.

Last week we found out we had to move. Not just move to a new place down the street, but to our old hometown to be closer to family. With a new wee one on the way, and my hands full with the sprout of life that we had last year, and my husband pursuing his dream as a writer (and definitely getting somewhere)... it just seemed time to move back for the time being. Being as sick as I am, I can use all the help that we can have, and so far, the stress level has definitely gone down. Of course this week one of my besties is getting married and I'm one of her bridesmaids on top of it! <3 p="p">
In my spare time, I have been working on artworks for the "Lively Little Things" solo show of mine in November. :) For October, I will be apart of the "Out of the Ashes" group show at The Empty Space Art Gallery & Theatre, which should be awesome. It is a continuation of the "burn the witch" shows that I have been apart of in the past, but under new management, so to speak.

I also caught a cold during all this hullabaloo. Of course. It seems to be nearly gone (yay!) Really not something I was planning on, but neither was moving and we still made it work. Thank the Lord for the help of family.

On that note, it's weird to be back, but definitely for the better. I love you all. Thank you for your patience and support through all of this.

Here's to living the dream!

I have been working on a lot of private pieces for clients, which explains my absence. In fact, though I promised myself I would slow down a bit, I went and scheduled two new submissions to shows coming up. One is for the "Exquisite Corpse" show KALEID gallery in San Jose, CA opening today! "Mermaid with a Crab" is a piece I created for it also ties into this week's Illustration Friday theme "lost". How you say? Well, the blowfish in the piece obviously have not the slightest clue where they are going. A little bit of a stretch, but who said the theme had to fit the entire illustration? Why not just part of it?

"Mermaid with a Crab", 18"x24", watercolor

Funny enough, I did not do this next part on purpose, those two same lost fish will also be in the latest illustration I am working on for F+ Gallery's music themed show in Santa Ana, CA next month. They are just red/orange blobs at the moment, due to some fast underpainting. I will be selling prints of the finished tiki piece at Tiki Oasis this year, as well as other mermaid works and a new set of Christmas cards (tiki themed of course). Visit the Mele Tiki Guys booth!

WIP, acrylic

After these shows, the month of September remains clear (as far as I know) because I'm going to be in my best friend's wedding! Then October will come around with the revival of Burn The Witch (This year's VI: Out of the Ashes)! Yes! We are back, and this time it will be back at The Empty Space Gallery in Bakersfield, CA! I know I will have at least one original there, because the following month I have "They Come From My Dreams" solo show exhibiting at The Foundry! Oi! I know! Not only that, but I have at least 3 commissions to do as well! It is awesome to be so busy, but difficult with a nearly walking little one.

Here's to living the dream!

It's coming... the Pink is here!

Holy crap! I cannot believe that it has been a year since our first experience at Pink Parlour! I must say, this year we are more ready than ever and with the help of my friends and family, we are looking good! I cannot wait for this Sunday's main event! It truly will be spectacular and fun and insane at the same time.

Many apologizes for not keeping this blog as updated as I would like. I have been living off my phone and posting to the Sey Studios Facebook Page since blogger doesn't have that stort of thing going for it. My baby girl has me going going going. First time all day since I have had a chance to check my emails on a formal computer. Though, to be completely fair, I have been having so much fun with her. Smiles, giggles... I just love how the smallest thing makes her happy. It's good to be a mama.

Well, I do hope to see you lovelies this weekend! If not, I will be posting new products on the Sey Studios Etsy Page... though I am revamping the photos (thankfully the new product doesn't have many photos to it is not going to be a complete pain in the rump) so the generic Etsy postings won't be up for a week or two, but definitely after Easter.

I will be taking special requests for specific art on product. If you see a piece of art you want on a ring, compact or pill box or a print that is not listed on the store, please let me know by sending me an email and I will post a private listing for you and get it ready to go. I bought a limited supply to sell at Pink Parlour this weekend, but if they do well, I will be keeping them in stock for the store as well. I am super excited about them. They look so good in person, and by photograph too!

Here's a sneak peak at what is to come! #pinkparlour

Fashion pendants and fancy rings with adorable art!

Compact mirrors and pill cases (Yes, I should have made an Alice pill case... but it is in the works for Etsy at least!)

IF - Popularity

Day 40: High Self Esteem

Been keeping up with my daily illustrations. You can see them all here. This one happens to fall under this week's IF theme of "Popularity".

Working on a lot of commissions right now... and a few side projects, as well as home life. Oh! Also getting ready for this year's Pink Parlour event! I have so many ideas in store for this years festival! It is going to be fantastic!

I wish I could write more but my mom brain is fried and tired. Time to recharge.

IF - Twirl

It has been way too long since I have had the chance to do an Illustration Friday theme! Getting back in the groove again!

Twirl, twirl, twirl (also illustration #21 for my drawing a day challenge. All entries can be seen here.)
Finally picked up watercolors again, and having fun with them. Never thought I would be using them so frequently, but I like the challenge.

In other news, I had a mini contest yesterday to find this amazing recipe from the Yak & Yeti restaurant at Walt Disney World, and a friend found it, so I drew her this original illustration inspired by the magical place. I had such a blast creating this piece, it took only 2 hours tops. Not only that but doing this reminded me how much I need to create more illustrations with these creatures.

Yak & Yeti
Ah, it is so nice to be illustrating again! Commissions and projects already lined up for the year! I am always open to more (just contact me as soon as possible so I can schedule accordingly).

Sweet baby

Oh, boy, if you only knew the chaos that has ensued this year, I finally managed to find some time and paint! Yes! It was a quick watercolor, but it turned out adorable. Here it is to share!

A New Year's Eve Resolution

Welcome to 2012!

In honor of the time honored tradition of resolutions, I have decided to embark on one of my own. You have probably heard of the 365 day challenge we all try to ascertain. Well I am here to go on that epic quest, in creating a drawing a day for an entire year!

I have attempted this in the past, but usually mid year when things were already at their busiest and never really ended up reaching my goal. This year will be different. I plan to start off on the right foot and keep my goal. In order to keep my mind on the mission, I picked a theme in which I shall be sure to keep my drawings within the parameter of said theming. The theme of the year shall be "Monsters & Mischief".

With that being said, let's get this ball rolling!

1. Fat Bat
2. The Lonely Bran Muffin... Because no one likes bran muffins.
3. Grade school was not kind.
4. Mrs. Stein cleans up and boogies the night away.
